Membership Benefits and Policies

Anyone with an interest in the arts of Africa or the African Diaspora is welcome to join ACASA. Courtesy memberships are available to individuals living and working in Africa or the Diaspora for whom it is a financial or bureaucratic difficulty to make payment.

Tax deductibility: ACASA is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Basic membership rates are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. They may, however be tax deductible as business expenses. Donations above the cost of membership may be deductible as charitable contributions to the extent provided by law.

Membership Fees

Residents of Africa and the Caribbean Free (Must be renewed annually)

Student (Undergraduate & Graduate) $35.00 for one year

Individual $125.00 for one year

Individual (3-yr option) $350.00 for 3 years

Institutional $500.00 for one year (Galleries and Dealers are Institutional Members)

Institutional Lifetime $10,000.00 or $2,000.00 annually for 5 years (Galleries and Dealers are Institutional Members)

Institutional Lifetime (5-yr option) $2,000.00/year paid over 5 years 

Lifetime Membership $2,000.00 

Lifetime Membership (5-yr option) $400.00/year paid over 5 years

Sustain Free Memberships in Africa & the Caribbean donation (This donation helps offset the cost of these memberships and ensures that ACASA can continue offering free access to scholars in these regions.)

ACASA Endowment Fund donation (This fund allows ACASA to engage in special initiatives to strengthen the organization and support its goals.)

Travel Fund donation (This fund provides travel grants for African and Caribbean scholars and U.S.-based graduate students to attend the Triennial Symposium.)

ACASA, the Arts Council of the African Studies Association, promotes greater understanding of African material and expressive culture in all its many forms, and encourages contact and collaboration with African and Diaspora artists and scholars.
