Membership Benefits and Policies

Anyone with an interest in the arts of Africa or the African Diaspora is welcome to join ACASA. Courtesy memberships are available to individuals living and working in Africa or the Diaspora for whom it is a financial or bureaucratic difficulty to make payment.

Tax deductibility: ACASA is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Basic membership rates are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. They may, however be tax deductible as business expenses. Donations above the cost of membership may be deductible as charitable contributions to the extent provided by law.

Membership Fees

Undergraduate Student $15 for one year

Graduate Student (M.A. and Ph.D. students) $30.00 for one year

Graduate Student (3 year option) $84.00 for 3 years

Income under $25K $32.00 for one year

Income under $25K (3 year option) $84.00 for 3 years

Income between $25K & $50K $65.00 for one year

Income between $25K & $50K (3-yr option) $175.00 for 3 years

Income over $50K $97.00 for one year

Income over $50K (3-yr option) $260.00 for 3 years

Institutional $165.00 for one year (Galleries and Dealers are Institutional Members)

Institutional (3-yr option) $435.00 for 3 years (Galleries and Dealers are Institutional Members)

Patron $227.00 for one year (Patrons should fill out the Online Donation Form to direct their donations above baseline membership fee of $75.00 and mail it in along with membership form.)

Patron (3-yr option) $611.00 for 3 years (Patrons should fill out the Online Donation Form to direct their donations above baseline membership fee of $75.00 and mail it in along with membership form.)

Lifetime Membership $1,500.00

Lifetime Membership (5-yr option) $300.00/year paid over 5 years (If you paid your first Lifetime Membership (5-yr option) installment prior to 2020, please use the subscription below this one to maintain your current installment price.)

Leadership Award Recipients Free

Residents of Africa and the Caribbean: complimentary Free for one year

ACASA Endowment Fund donation (This fund allows ACASA to engage in special initiatives to strengthen the organization and support its goals.)

Roy Sieber Dissertation Award Endowment Fund donation (This fund supports an award for the best Ph.D. Dissertation in the field of African and African Diaspora Art.)

Travel Fund donation (This fund provides travel grants for African and Caribbean scholars and U.S.-based graduate students to attend the Triennial Symposium.)

ACASA, the Arts Council of the African Studies Association, promotes greater understanding of African material and expressive culture in all its many forms, and encourages contact and collaboration with African and Diaspora artists and scholars.
