Travel Grants

Travel Grants to ACASA’s Triennial Symposium 2020

Eligible scholars are based in Africa, the Caribbean, or elsewhere if they have no support from their employer.

The submission period for this grant is now closed.

The Arts Council of the African Studies Association has secured funds to support travel for colleagues at all levels to the upcoming Triennial Symposium on African Art. To be eligible you must present a paper or participate in another official aspect of the symposium and meet either the residence or need-based criteria above. Please note that even if you receive a travel award, it will not cover the full expense of attending the symposium. Awards are granted on a competitive basis until funds raised are expended.

Describe your contribution to the symposium (e.g. delivering a paper, chairing a panel, etc.):

If you are a panel chair or you are proposing a paper to an open session, please send your application by January 31, 2020.

If you have proposed a paper to an existing panel, please also send your application with your paper proposal to the chair of this panel by the January 31, 2020.

Note to Panel Chairs:  Please provide a short and candid evaluation of the contribution of the proposed paper to your panel to Leslie Rabin at lwrabine@gmail.com by February 2021.

It is not possible to wire or transfer funds to grant recipients.  Recipients will be reimbursed in the amount of their grant when they arrive at the Triennial.
